How to Make Quinoa

Quinoa is more than just a trendy ingredient. It’s refreshing, packed with hard-to-get nutrients, and offers more protein-per-bite than white or brown rice. That said— it can be tough to get right. You can find pre-made quinoa at most grocery stores, but here’s a tried and true method to make your own perfectly fluffy quinoa.

Quinoa in a bowl

1. Ingredients & Materials

  • Quinoa
  • Medium pot
  • Water

2. Measure out your quinoa

The recommended serving size is typically 1 cup of dried quinoa for two people.

3. Fill your pot with water

To keep your quinoa from getting too mushy or too dry, try a ratio of 1¾ cups of water to every cup of dry quinoa.

4. Pour quinoa into pot

Bring the water to a boil, then cover the pot and reduce the heat and leave it to simmer for 15 minutes.

5. Remove your pot from the heat

Leave it covered for at least 10 minutes.

6. Enjoy!

Remove the lid, fluff with a fork, and you’re finished!!
